Breaking News: Honda Activa E Battery Swap Plan Gets a Massive Price Cut!

In a significant move to boost the adoption of its electric scooter, Honda has just made its battery swapping subscription for the Activa E dramatically more affordable in India! This is big news for prospective buyers, as it addresses a key concern that might have been hindering sales.

Previously, the minimum monthly cost for battery swaps stood at ₹1,999 (excluding GST). But now, Honda Power Pack Energy has introduced a new, budget-friendly “Lite” subscription plan priced at an incredible ₹678 (excluding GST). That’s a massive reduction, making the Activa E’s running costs significantly more appealing!

More Swaps for Less Bucks

Under the new “Lite” plan, Honda Activa E customers will gain access to 12 battery swaps per month. This provides ample flexibility for most urban commuters. Should a customer exceed this limit, additional swaps will be charged at a reasonable rate of ₹180 per battery. This new structure aims to offer greater value and predictability for users.

Addressing Sales Challenges

This significant price drop comes as Honda looks to invigorate sales of the Activa E. According to SIAM data, the electric scooter’s sales figures saw a considerable dip, from 106 units in March 2025 to just 32 units in April 2025. One of the primary reasons cited for this lukewarm performance has been the Activa E’s battery-swapping-only model, which, unlike many competitors, doesn’t offer a home charging option.

While Honda initially positioned battery swapping as a convenient alternative to long charging times, market feedback suggests that many riders prefer the flexibility of charging their scooters at home or work. This price adjustment is a clear indication that Honda is listening to customer feedback and actively working to make the Activa E a more attractive proposition.

A Closer Look at the Honda Activa E

For those unfamiliar with Honda’s electric scooter, the Activa E is available in two variants: the Activa E STD, priced at ₹1.17 lakh (ex-showroom), and the more feature-rich Activa E RoadSync Duo, costing ₹1.52 lakh (ex-showroom).

The scooter is powered by a 6 kW motor and utilizes two swappable 1.5 kWh battery packs, providing a combined capacity of 3 kWh. This setup offers a claimed range of 102 kilometers, which is suitable for typical city commuting.

In terms of features, the Activa E boasts an all-LED light setup for enhanced visibility. The STD variant comes with a 5-inch TFT display, while the premium RoadSync Duo variant features a larger 7-inch TFT unit equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and call & SMS alerts, ensuring a connected ride.

Will the Price Cut Spark a Revolution?

This aggressive pricing strategy for the battery swap subscription is a crucial step for Honda. While the absence of a home charging option remains a factor, a significantly reduced running cost could sway potential buyers, especially in cities where Honda’s battery swap network (operated by Honda Power Pack Energy) is robust and expanding.

It remains to be seen how this new “Lite” plan will impact the Activa E’s sales trajectory. However, it’s clear that Honda is committed to making electric mobility more accessible and appealing to the Indian masses.
